With almost 30 years of experience in boat charters, we have seen a fair amount of boat party themes over the years! And since Christmas is all about sharing and giving — we’ll be doing exactly that. Here are the Top 5 Christmas Party Theme Ideas for your boat party.

1. Pirate Christmas Boat Party

Christmas party but make it pirate-y. We have noticed that a pirate party has been the go-to theme for their Christmas party cruise. With the right decorations, pirate costumes and onboard entertainment, a private boat charter can turn your Perth Christmas party into a daredevil adventure on the water. With our experience in Perth boat hires, we can help you bring your pirate-themed Christmas boat cruise to life.

Pull up to the function in a Jack Sparrow costume or the majestic Tia Dalma. Fill the vessel with tricorn hats, weathered maps, treasure chests and gold coin decorations. You can even have a Jack the Monkey toy aboard your cruise. Set sail to Carnac Island for your Christmas party cruise to complete the pirate vibes.

2. Titanic Nautical Boat Cruise

Ironic as it may sound, a Titanic Nautical Boat Cruise is actually a crowd favourite. For friends and colleagues who love a theme with a story behind it. You also get to have an excuse to shy away from the usual red and green colours and get a little unpredictable with your Perth Christmas party. A private boat charter gives you plenty of room to bring the theme to life and make your Christmas party cruise slightly different from the usual celebration.

Step onboard a time machine and travel back in time to 1912, with vintage Victorian fashion. Picture evening gowns with flowing trained skirts, lace, ruffles, feathered hats, and headdresses. Gentlemen can wear tailcoats, tuxedos, bow ties, and top hats, accessorised with canes and gloves. Decorate with pearls, lace, and parasols for a classic vintage feel. Perfect for a private boat charter and a Christmas party cruise where every detail tells a story. This theme is sure to make your Perth Christmas party one to remember.

3. Love Boat Theme

This boat concept was based on the American romantic comedy drama called The Love Boat. It was part of ABC’s popular Saturday-night line-up from September 1977 to May 1986. The series was so huge that it was actually nominated a couple of times for a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. This feel-good series, which offers escapism through its comedic episodes, coupled with some romance and a little drama, is one of the best-loved themes among our Perth boat hire customers.

Your Christmas party cruise colours would be different from the usual green and red. For the Love Boat Theme, royal blue, white, and red with plenty of stripes make up the vessel’s style. Guests arrive in style with their captain- and crew-inspired attire from the late 70s and early 80s. Add a comedian for onboard entertainment and fun games to make your Love Boat Christmas party cruise a standout event on the water.

4. “Seas & Greetings” Cruise Theme

Seas & Greetings! Pun intended. This theme is inspired by the traditional Christmas greeting “Season’s Greetings” with a little twist to make it more nautical, perfect for Christmas party cruises. Steer clear of the usual branding of Christmas parties and give your Perth Christmas boat cruise a twist.

If you prefer a Christmas party theme that’s all about the scene rather than costumes, “Seas & Greetings” is perfect for your private boat charter. Decorate in watery blues, greens, and creams with seashells, driftwood, starfish, buoys, and small bowls of sand. Rope and fish netting add a coastal vibe, creating a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere for your Perth boat hire.

5. Caribbean Theme

Could never go wrong with the classic Caribbean Theme. Bring those equatorial vibes to your Christmas party cruise. Just like how the Caribbean is made up of different islands, islets and reefs, your boat charter is also made up of different people with different personalities and walks of life. This is a very good opportunity to talk and get a new perspective on how people live their lives. A very nice gift you can give yourself this Christmas.

This tropical-inspired theme is all about vibrant colours. Bring your Christmas party cruise to life with palm leaves, leis, flowers, fresh fruit centrepieces, and relaxed beach party attire. Caribbean catering is bright, fresh, and fruity—with plenty of cocktails, of course! Your party venue will feel like a tropical escape.

This is hardly an exhaustive list! After more than 20 years of hosting memorable Perth Christmas party cruises, we’ve seen hundreds of stunning themes.
